5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Publishing Cursed Gift

1. It Takes a Long Time
Writing a book isn’t a sprint—it’s a marathon! Some days, inspiration struck, and I’d write pages. Other days, I’d stare at the screen, struggling to form a sentence. Then came the fun part of discovering mistakes—like mixed-up timelines or character names—and retracing every connection. It’s a slow but rewarding process!

2. It’s Easy, but Really Hard
The ideas flowed, and the first draft felt surprisingly easy. But then came the editing. Fixing mistakes was one thing, but accepting them? That’s another story. People often said, “Wow, you’re writing a book!” In the beginning, I’d say, “Anyone can do it.” While that’s true, the reality is—it’s not for the faint of heart!

3. Selling and Marketing Aren’t Easy
The book doesn’t sell itself. This part has been a steep learning curve. While family and friends are supportive, it’s getting the attention of strangers that’s tough. Creating a website, writing blogs, launching email campaigns, and running ads—it’s all a constant hustle. I try not to obsess over sales reports... but it’s hard!

4. People Are Kind and Generous
The support and feedback from readers have blown me away. Everyone brings a unique perspective, and it’s amazing how kind and helpful people have been throughout the process. It’s been a humbling and inspiring experience.

5. Editing Sucks (Still)
Editing is brutal—plain and simple. Enough said!

Till next time!
